The filter can be washed and, if dried properly, reused. Changing shop vac filters often is strongly recommended to increase the vac’s performance and to help extend vacuum life as it protects the motor from harmful dust and debris. The 1-layer standard filter fits all RIDGID wet/dry shop vacs 5 Gal. and larger and should only be used for dry pickup.
